Topic 1 :
The Aroma therapeutic treatment of the female reproductive condition Endometriosis

It is estimated that 10-15% of the female menstruating population may have endometriosis with increasing menstrual monthly pain. Endometriosis is a female reproductive problem that is one of the main causes of infertility.In 1991 as Chairman of research for the International Federation of Aromatherapist's, Valerie conducted a UK wide study program with an adapted version of her successful treatment plan. Members of the IFA and members of the Endometriosis Society of the United Kingdom carried out the study. Valerie has since presented her work on Endometriosis at conferences in the USA, Canada and Australia. In this talk, Valerie discusses how to treat the condition using essential oils and aromatherapy massage.

Plants with medicinal value are harder to find as more peoples are turning to herbal remedies to cure their ailments. With widespread deforestation and rapid urbanization, many medicinal plants may already lose forever. Our Herb and Spice Garden (Organic) situated at Sentosa Island, boasts a collection of more than 250 species of local and exotic herb and spice. There is an open classroom and live museum for Education, Research/development, Herb plants enthusiasts, Healthy Living the Natural way and Diet Therapy and others. Martin will be talking about Definition of Herb, What are TM/TCM, Conventional Approach, Herbal Approach, Dietary Therapy, and Early Warning Systems e.g. Sclerology, Irisdology, Herbal Tea Supplement and Herbal Teas Appreciation.

HIV with Children

  Sylvia has a wealth of accumulated experience in working with aromatherapy in HIV and AIDS-related programmes in Chile. She has led three long-term trials in national health institutions experimenting with the uses of essential oils to help HIV carriers and AIDS sufferers at different stages of the syndrome. Her latest project, which is into its third year now, has involved using aromatherapy massage with HIV-positive AIDS-orphaned children of deprived backgrounds

Sue was selected as the winner of the Marguerite Maury Award following numerous nominations from colleagues, clients and from NHS staff in the midwifery unit where she has set up an aromatherapy service. She was also a joint winner of the Prince of Wales awards 2005 for her midwifery aromatherapy project. Workshop will cover: The body in pregnancy - The safe use of aromatherapy in pregnancy -The safe use of aromatherapy in the intrapartum period -The safe use of aromatherapy in the postnatal period.

Cancer Care with Aromatherapy

Joanna was an IFA Chair for 2 years and has been a teacher / school owner and examiner for over thirty years. She has travelled overseas since 1979 setting up schools and teaching aroamtehrapy courses and workshops. She currectly works and has worked for severeal years at the Guildford Hospital and cancer patients. The workshop will cover: - Home and hospital treatments, guidelines, choice of oils and explain how the massage should be preformed on clients.

Bowen Therapy

Jennie holds a university of London Teaching qualification and a teacher of Physical Education in senior and special needs schools. In addition to her Aromatherapy and Massage training she also holds professional qualification in Reflexology, Nutrition, Bowen Therapy and Manual Lymph Drainage (Vodder). In addition to her own private clinic, she has also worked closely with G.Ps, at a Medical Centre, as part of an NHS funded project designed to decrease patients dependency on prescription drugs, which was highly successful. Bowen Therapy is enough to provide lasting relief or ‘Cure’ from certain conditions such as long term pain, a range of muscular skeletal problems, frozen shoulder, RSI, Chronic fatigue, Migraine, kidney and digestive problems and asthma. Treatment is very gentle and relaxing and is practised by much health professional such as osteopaths, Chiropractors and Physiotherapists for who it becomes the preferred treatment in many instances.

Essential oils are used all over the world in facial and body treatments and in cosmetics due to the immediate results that can be seen by the client and therapist. Aesthetic Aromatherapy is the art of combining essential oils to create specific facials and body treatments. As stress and unhappiness contributes to a clients skin condition the art includes creating essential oil personal blends that also affect the emotional well-being of the client during the treatment. In this workshop, Valerie will discuss the best essential oils, carrier oils and hydrolats to use for specific facial and body treatments including; Acne, brightening and anti-aging facial treatments, cellulite and toning body treatments. Which essential oils should be avoided. And show how using the healing energies of the therapist and essential oils can be the secret to successful aesthetic aromatherapy treatments.
     
  Workshop 2 :
Practical view of Aromatherapy with children who have Aids

My workshop will be an opportunity to demonstrate and give practical examples of our work with the HIV-positive/AIDS children. I will explain the kinds of essential oil preparations we use, the treatments we give and the emotional (e.g. violent behaviour) and physical problems (e.g. opportunistic diseases) that we have dealt with.

Thai Massage

A practical introduction to the benefits and application Art of Thai Massage, Napalai will explain how and why Thai massage works on the body. She will provide practical demonstrations on how these techniques are applied to various parts of the body. Specific Treatments will be discussed on certain medical conditions and for relaxation.
